The broad aims of the Academy are to promote and maintain with kindred organisations the optimal level of endodontic health within the community, and to become the recognised body representing the specific interests of Endodontists in Australia and New Zealand.
More specifically, the aims are:
- To promote the dental, oral, and general health of the Australian and New Zealand communities through improved endodontic knowledge and care;
- To maintain and advance the recognition and acceptance of Endodontics as a specialty within dentistry in Australia and New Zealand;
- To assist and support the interests of members in the specialised practice and teaching of endodontics;
- To gain recognition as the preferred source for advice, guidance and assistance of other dental and/or endodontic organisations, registration Boards or Councils in Australia and New Zealand when matters involving specialist endodontic registration, training, education, or "third party" negotiations arise, and to maintain awareness of overseas training standards;
- To support and encourage the study, advancement of knowledge, research, and academic aspects of endodontics and its clinical practice in Australia and New Zealand;
- To maintain high educational, ethical, and professional standards amongst its members;
- To maintain affiliation with, and support the Australian Dental Association Inc., the Australian Society of Endodontology Inc., New Zealand Dental Association Inc., and the New Zealand Society of Endodontics (Inc);
- To affiliate other bodies of endodontics, Endodontists or other groups following application from them, upon such terms and conditions as would further the objectives and welfare of The Academy and its members;
- To establish mutually beneficial associations with other specialist groups or academies and/or other bodies involved in health care, where such associations are deemed appropriate;
- To hold regular business and scientific meetings of members of The Academy;
- To encourage and help maintain a high standard of endodontic training for undergraduate and postgraduate dental students in Australia and New Zealand;
- To encourage the appointment of Endodontists by hospital boards and public bodies involved in oral health care in Australia and New Zealand.
